| Abstract: | Among the initiatives undertaken by the Organization for Physics at Two-Year Colleges (OPTYCs) are a new AIP Survey of Two-Year College Physics Programs and the updating of AAPT's Guidelines for Two-Year College Physics Programs. The last AIP survey of two-year colleges took place in 2010, which means that the information about physics instruction in those institutions is outdated. Likewise, the Guidelines for Two-Year College Physics Programs were published in 2001. Many changes have taken place since then, including advances in pedagogy coming out of physics education research, and the advance of online instruction. This poster will review the rationale for these critical updates, and provide information on the work done to date. |
