| Abstract: | The Overview, Case Study (OCS) approach to teaching introductory physics was developed by Alan Van Heuvelen. Although originally developed for calculus-based physics, it can be used in algebra/trigonometry-based physics. The OCS approach utilizes a multi-step approach in the development of topics. The first step is an overview or conceptual development of topics. The next step is developing a multiple representation problem solving approach to topics. The final step is looking at case studies that may involve multiple topical areas. In this poster, the various steps will be illustrated and some assessment data will be presented. |
