| Proposal Title: | Diagrams for Student Understanding of Heat, Momentum and Equations |
|---|---|
| Abstract Type: | Poster |
| Abstract: | For the last several years, we have used a variety of diagrams to help students understand and apply physics concepts in both general education courses and STEM majors courses. In this poster, we will describe three diagrams we use: momentum diagrams, heat diagrams and Frayer diagrams for equations. Momentum and heat diagrams are designed to provide structured and visual ways of representing all the information available to students solving momentum and heat problems. Frayer diagrams provide structured support for understanding equations themselves at a deeper conceptual level. |
